Castlands Road featured in Dezeen
Castlands Road, our self build house, has been featured in Dezeen.
Our self-build home in Catford, south-east London, has been featured by Dezeen in an article published on 29 July 2026, titled ‘Bricolage uses salvaged bricks for self-build home in London’.
The feature explores how we transformed a back-garden plot into a three-bedroom, low-energy family home using a resourceful palette of salvaged bricks, exposed clay blocks and British larch. It also highlights the handmade oak and plywood joinery and the sequence of living spaces that step down with the site towards the garden.
Dezeen describes the project’s wider ambition as a ‘terraced house in waiting’: a contemporary self-build home designed to accommodate future neighbouring houses and demonstrate how overlooked urban sites, careful material choices and direct construction can provide another route to creating an affordable family home in London.
